Getting a Visa

We issue visas

There are several types of visas, each of which is intended for different purposes and periods of stay.

The main types of visas to Poland:

Schengen visa (type C)

This is a short-term visa for 90 days within a 180-day period. It does not give the right to employment. But with it you can visit the Schengen countries.

It is chosen for:

  • Tourism.
  • Visiting relatives or friends.
  • Short-term business trips (negotiations, conferences).
  • Participation in cultural or sporting events.

National visa (type D)

This type of visa allows you to stay in Poland for more than 90 days and is issued for a long-term stay of up to one year.
A national visa of type D is issued in the following cases:

  • Official employment – for persons who have a confirmed place of work in Poland.
  • Education – for studying at higher or secondary educational institutions in the country.
  • Family reunification – for close relatives of Polish citizens or foreigners who have a long-term residence permit.
  • Other reasons – scientific research, cultural programs, internships, etc.

Attention: to apply for a national visa, an official invitation confirming the purpose of your trip is mandatory. In the case of employment, such an invitation is registered by the employer.

Transit visa

This document is required for travelers who are transiting through Poland to another country.

Issued in two versions:

  • Airport transit visa (type A) – allows you to stay only in the transit zone of a Polish airport without the right to enter the country.
  • Land transit visa (type C) – allows you to cross Poland by car, train or other means of transport, as well as exit the airport transit zone.

This visa is usually valid for up to 5 days.

Citizens of some countries may not need a transit visa if a visa-free regime is in place between the countries. It is recommended to check the current conditions before traveling.
